Year 5 SATs past questions
Real questions from past KS2 maths tests, sorted by topic. Tick the topics you want, choose how many questions, and download a neatly set out practice sheet with its mark-scheme answers. Nothing is made up: every question is exactly as it was set. The SATs are sat at the end of Year 6 but they are built on four years of maths, so only the questions that need Year 5 skills or earlier are on this page.

Real questions, picked!
Includes older questions. Some of these come from the 2000 to 2015 tests (levels 3 to 5), which are generally easier than today’s Year 6 SATs.
About these questions
The questions come from the key stage 2 maths tests from 2016 to 2025, including the 2016 sample tests. Each is a picture cut straight from the published paper, with its original marks. The printed question number is removed so your sheet can number its own questions, and the answers are the official mark-scheme entries. Topic names come from the content-domain code the Standards and Testing Agency gives each question (for example 6C7b is long division). The first digit of that code is the year group where the skill is first taught, which is how we chose the questions for Year 5; we then looked at every question and moved a few that suit a different year (for example long multiplication is taught in Year 5 although the tests code it as Year 6), and left out questions that need a ruler or protractor at true size. Topics with no suitable question are not shown. We have not asked a teacher to check the difficulty, so look through your sheet before you give it out.
Arithmetic questions that carry one mark are shown as a short strip with an answer box and some working space; long multiplication and long division keep their working grid. Calculators are not allowed in the 2016 to 2025 tests.
